Huntsman Corporation announced that it has just donated over $600,000 to the Montgomery County Food Bank, Houston Food Bank, and Interfaith Ministries of The Woodlands. The donations include funds contributed this week by Huntsman associates at its Conroe, The Woodlands and Houston Ship Channel locations and a few key Huntsman service providers, as well as matching funds from the Huntsman family, the Company, and the Beaumont Foundation.

Faced with the devastating impact to Greater Houston from last week’s winter storm, Huntsman Chairman, President and CEO Peter Huntsman issued a “24-hour challenge” to associates for donations to support the ongoing relief efforts. Including the matching funds, the Company raised over $600,000, including $400,000 from its associates, key service partners, Huntsman Corporation, and Peter and Brynn Huntsman. The Beaumont Foundation*, founded by Huntsman Board member Wayne Reaud, contributed an additional $200,000.

“Last week’s freezing weather devastated people’s homes and the loss of power, water and other resources has created a dire need for so many in our area,” Peter Huntsman said. “Commitment to community is fundamental to Huntsman Corporation’s spirit and we have long supported local food banks and charities who provide for our neighbors. Many of our associates experienced hardship in the past week and their generosity is typical of their compassion. I want to thank them and our business partners and hope, through these donations, that we are able to support a quicker recovery.”

“In this time of profound impact, Texas businesses can do more and need to do it quickly,” added Huntsman. “We recognize those companies and their employees who have already stepped up and we encourage others to do the same.” The Huntsman associate pledge drive ended on Tuesday, February 23, and participation was entirely voluntary.
